Rescue330 is committed to supporting the community cats of Northeast Ohio, with a primary focus on Summit County. With the help of a Rosalie and Cecil Smith Fund grant from the Akron Community Foundation, we have launched a dedicated Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program to help our neighbors humanely reduce the outdoor cat population and improve the welfare of these animals. By working together with local residents, we aim to control overpopulation, prevent needless suffering, and create safer, healthier environments for both cats and the communities they call home.
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a humane and effective approach to managing community cat populations.
TNR has been proven to reduce nuisance behaviors such as spraying, fighting, and excessive noise, while also preventing new litters of kittens. Within just a few months of implementing TNR, communities often see a noticeable decrease in these issues.
Altered cats also tend to stay closer to their established food sources, limiting their interactions with the public and keeping them safer in their familiar colonies or backyards.
Community cats—often called feral, stray, or neighborhood cats—typically live outdoors where food and shelter are available. They may gather near dumpsters, behind businesses, or in residential areas. These cats are often independent and not suited for indoor life.
When left unaltered, community cats continue to reproduce, leading to overpopulation and increased conflicts. TNR is the most humane and effective way to stabilize and care for these outdoor cat populations.
Trap-Neuter-Return gives these beautiful, independent cats a chance to live healthy, stable lives while reducing the number of kittens born on the streets and helping communities coexist peacefully with their feline neighbors.
You can make a real difference in the lives of community cats:
Every volunteer hour and every dollar helps reduce the suffering of homeless cats and builds a more compassionate community for all.
Rescue330 is committed to helping community cats in Northeast Ohio—especially in Summit County—through our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program. $50 provides one full TNR package for a community cat. Every contribution makes a lasting impact—helping us prevent litters of kittens, reduce overcrowding in shelters, and create healthier, safer neighborhoods for cats and people alike.
