Remembering Ernie
Ernie was a gentle 10-year-old Cocker Spaniel mix who came to Rescue330 after his beloved owner entered hospice care. From the moment he arrived, it was clear that Ernie’s heart was full of sweetness and trust. He enjoyed the simple joys of life—sunbathing in the yard, sniffing around at his own pace, and resting close to his people.
When Ernie first came to us, he faced several medical challenges, including arthritis, incontinence, and complications tied to nerve issues in his lower spine. He was also showing the early stages of canine cognitive dysfunction (dementia). With the help of our veterinary team and his devoted foster family, Ernie received the medications, and comfort care he needed to live out his days peacefully. He was never in pain, and his world was filled with love, patience, and compassion.
Though Ernie’s journey with us was not long, he knew the warmth of a safe home, good food (he always preferred the wet food!), and gentle hands to reassure him. Most importantly, he knew what it meant to be loved.
We said goodbye to Ernie as he crossed the rainbow bridge, but he left behind pawprints on our hearts. Rescue330 is honored to have given him dignity, care, and love until his final day.
